Solved: Too hot causes iPhone 6 doesn’t work

We received an iPhone 6 need to be repaired, the problem is that the iPhone 6 doesn't work after water damaged, it gets too hot! When touch it with hands, we can fell the iPhone temperature is high. So, the first priority is to cool the iPhone.

For cooling iPhone, there are many methods. We can put iPhone on the cool floor, and after a while, the iPhone can back to normal temperature. But for firmware damaged, it is just the beginning. Now, we need to use professional iPhone repair tools to fix it.

Carefully disassemble the iPhone by phone opening tools, connect iPhone motherboard to DC power supply to check its current. If the current tested is normal, then the iPhone doesn't get hot.

But the iPhone still warns that the temperature is too high, mostly it was caused by the damage to the temperature-detecting component. In this case, put iPhone motherboard under the Trinocular Stereo Microscope, and you can fix it by replacing C1365, C1356 R1368 and C1322 R1390.

If the iPhone is large current after test, so firstly we need to rule out the problem of large currents (please follow the method of repairing leakage). Furthermore, some iPhone 6 will show this failure with DC power supply test, but with a battery test, there's no such fault.

One of the most common problems is the iPhone boot line. The iPhone 6 flash LED is on the boot line, and there is temperature detection signal RCAM_TO_STROBE_NTC of the flash LED leading to iPhone flash light IC. Water-damaged boot line is easy to cause iPhone short circuit and then shows high temperature warning after boot. In this case, you can fix it by replacing this boot line.

If high temperature warning was caused by damaged iPhone flash LED, just replace it can solve this problem.

Note, the iPhone battery also will hint temperature is too high, some iPhone has high temperature warning by testing DC power supply, but it's normal to boot on a battery.

After finish the above step, test iPhone again, it's back to normal temperature now, the problem has been solved!
